The sport of Jiu Jitsu requires attention and devotion. Similiar to a relaionship. So similiar that you must manage/balance your perrsonal relationship with your Jiu Jitsu relationship. I have been training (Inconsistentlay I might add) for about 10 years. I must say that looking back the reason for my inconsistency was due to not managing the “relationships” effectively.
This older gentlemen at a gym i used to train at told be once, “Even if you just come once a week, that is better then not coming at all. I thought that was pretty profound based on the simplicity of that idea. This mentality helps work out conflicts based on the premise that going at all is better then not. In my case it worked out. I was able to manage my Jiu Jitsu hobby and not detract from what I truly love (my family) because the expectation of training time was low. I started by training once a week then over time the schedule evolved and I was able to work in more mat time.
